極東ロシアの港町デカストリです。ロシア本土極東地域で最北の不凍港を持つこの港町は材木の輸出港としても有名です。周辺は材木輸出が盛んで、ここデカストリや南に位置するヴァニノ港、またはアムール川（中国名：黒竜江）を利用して中国や日本へ輸出しています。不凍港と言っても沖合いの話であって、港と湾の中は真冬になると凍ります。地元の人はその凍った海を車で移動したり、穴を開けて釣りを楽しんだりしています。

デカストリでお世話になるホテル、サモンホテルです。街にはもう一つホテルがありますが、実質ここしか稼動してないようです。部屋や食事、トイレやシャワーなど都会暮らしに慣れた日本人には厳しいものがあるでしょうが、私は4年以上ロシアの生活を経験しているので、そういう不具合や衛生状況に慣れてしまいました。
